UAE employers face a retention squeeze in 2026. Gallup's 2026 State of the Global Workplace report shows 76% of UAE employees think now is a good time to find a new job, against 52% globally. And since July 2026, companies with 50 or more employees that miss Emiratisation targets pay AED 10,000 a month per unfilled role, according to the UAE news agency WAM.

Engagement is strongly linked to retention. Gallup's Q12 meta-analysis of 183,000+ business units found the most engaged teams have 21% lower turnover in high-turnover organizations and 78% less absenteeism.

But you can only improve what you can measure, and measuring engagement in the UAE is harder than it looks. Most surveys go out by email in English, yet many employees work hotel or warehouse shifts, have no company email and read another language first. The survey never reaches them, so a tool that shines in a demo ends up measuring only your office staff.

That's the test I used to compare seven employee engagement software options in the UAE, using vendor pages, pricing and G2 and Capterra reviews.

TL;DR:
- Decide first: a standalone engagement tool, or engagement built into your HR system.
- ThriveSparrow, Culture Amp, Lattice, Leapsome and 15Five are standalone. Bayzat and Zimyo are HR platforms built for the UAE and wider GCC. - In the UAE, frontline access, languages, anonymity and data protection matter more than feature count.

Short answer: The best employee engagement software in the UAE depends on your setup. ThriveSparrow fits frontline and multilingual teams, with AI-generated action plans. Bayzat and Zimyo fit companies that want engagement inside a UAE or GCC HR and payroll platform. Culture Amp suits large organizations that want benchmarks, while Lattice, Leapsome and 15Five suit performance-led teams.

Why ThriveSparrow ranks first: ThriveSparrow is our product, and this list is ranked by fit for UAE frontline and multilingual workforces, not by G2 rating. On that test it leads, because surveys reach staff without a company email, by QR code or SMS in 100+ languages.

TVS Sensing Solutions reached a 96.8% response rate using ThriveSparrow's automated reminders.

How I Evaluated Employee Engagement Software in the UAE

With those factors in mind, I shortlisted platforms from UAE directories, including Capterra UAE and SoftwareSuggest UAE, and compared them on six criteria:

  • Frontline and multilingual access
  • Surveys and anonymity
  • Analytics and action planning
  • HR and workplace integrations
  • Security and data protection
  • Total cost in AED

I checked features, pricing and reviews in September 2026, weighting frontline access and language support most, because a survey that misses part of your workforce misleads, however good the analytics. ThriveSparrow is our product, so it follows the same template and lists its cons.

Pros:

  • Infer AI turns results into ready-to-use action plans, not just heatmaps.
  • Responses in every language are translated into one filterable report.
  • QR code and SMS surveys with automated reminders reach frontline staff.
  • It connects to major HR systems, including BambooHR, ADP, HiBob and Workday, so employee lists stay current.

Cons:

  • It's not a human resources information system (HRIS), so payroll, leave and the Wage Protection System (WPS) stay elsewhere.
  • Data is hosted on AWS in the US and EU (Frankfurt), with no UAE data center, which matters if you need in-country data residency.
  • The full AI suite, including AI Coach, requires the Full Platform plan.

Pricing:

Engage $3 (about AED 11), Kudos $2 (about AED 7), Performance $5 (about AED 18) and Goals $3 (about AED 11) per user per month, or the Full Platform with every AI feature for $9 (about AED 33), all billed annually. One-on-Ones and Feedback are free. See ThriveSparrow pricing.

Best for: UAE companies with frontline or multilingual teams that want surveys, recognition and performance in one AI-powered tool.

My take: It's our product, so I'll be brief. If your biggest gap is hearing from employees who never open a laptop, shortlist it first. If you need payroll in the same system, look at Bayzat or Zimyo.

Try it before you shortlist: Start a 14-day free trial, send a QR code pulse to your own phone and preview it in Arabic. For a guided walkthrough, book a demo.

2. Bayzat

Bayzat HR and payroll platform showing a company newsfeed on desktop, the Bayzat employee mobile app and an AI assistant generating an attendance report
Bayzat HR, payroll and employee engagement platform

UAE HR, payroll and benefits platform with engagement surveys

Bayzat is an all-in-one HR, payroll and benefits platform built in Dubai for UAE businesses. It is used by 4,000+ companies, according to its employee survey page. Engagement is one module inside that platform: surveys sit in the same app employees use for payslips and leave, so HR can run pulse checks without adding another tool.

Key features:

  • Engagement surveys mapped to drivers such as eNPS, recognition, growth, manager support, well-being and teamwork
  • Templates, custom questions and AI-assisted question drafting
  • Anonymous responses
  • Employee app for leave, payslips, check-ins and surveys
  • Payroll, WPS, benefits and health insurance management
  • ISO 27001:2022 and SOC 2 Type 2 certification

Pros:

  • HR, payroll, benefits and surveys run in one UAE-built platform.
  • Surveys focus on defined engagement drivers, not general satisfaction.
  • Employees use one app for leave, payslips, attendance and surveys.
  • Reviewers describe the interface as user-friendly and support as responsive.

Cons:

  • Engagement is one module, so check how deep analytics and action planning go.
  • Customization is limited.
  • Pricing isn't published.
  • Independent review data is thin, and feedback is mixed.

Pricing: Custom quote.

Best for: UAE SMEs where payroll, WPS and health insurance come first.

My take: If payroll still lives in spreadsheets, fix that first, and Bayzat adds surveys along the way. Don't expect it to replace a specialist engagement tool as you grow.

3. Zimyo

Zimyo AI-powered HR and payroll software showing employee rating and headcount dashboard widgets
Zimyo AI-powered HR and payroll software

GCC HR platform with built-in engagement · G2 rating: 4.5/5

Zimyo is an HR and payroll platform headquartered in India, with a growing customer base in the GCC. It covers HR, payroll, attendance, performance and engagement, with 2,500+ customers. Engagement is built in rather than bought separately: its engagement module shares one employee record with payroll and attendance, so survey results can be filtered by data HR already manages.

Key features:

  • Scheduled pulse surveys with anonymous responses and department trends
  • eNPS tracking with alerts when scores drop
  • Values-based recognition with badges and shout-outs
  • Company feed, announcements and team chat
  • Attendance, payroll and performance modules
  • iOS and Android apps for frontline access

Pros:

  • HR, payroll, attendance, performance and engagement share one record.
  • It's easy to use day to day, and payroll automation saves HR time.
  • Support is quick and responsive.
  • Mobile apps give frontline staff direct access to surveys.

Cons:

  • The mobile app lags behind the desktop version.
  • Customization is difficult, especially in performance management.
  • The admin portal can slow down, and the many modules take time to learn.

Pricing: Per-employee subscription, listed on Zimyo's UAE pricing page.

Best for: Mid-size GCC companies wanting engagement, HR and payroll in one system.

My take: Best if you want one vendor for all of HR. Test the mobile app with frontline staff before signing, since that's where concerns cluster.

4. Culture Amp

Culture Amp's Performance Culture Quadrant, which groups workplace culture into four quadrants: peak performance, engaged skepticism, strained and disconnected
Culture Amp Performance Culture Quadrant

Employee experience platform · G2 rating: 4.5/5

Culture Amp is an employee experience platform founded in Melbourne, Australia, and best known for engagement surveys. Pros:

  • Benchmarks let HR compare results with peer companies.
  • Live chat support covers multiple time zones.
  • HR can launch surveys without vendor help.
  • AI Coach is included on every plan.

Cons:

  • Reporting and customization could be more flexible.
  • Long performance review drafts can be lost if the page times out.
  • 1:1 notifications have gaps, such as no email alert when someone replies.

Check in your demo: Arabic support and data hosting region.

Pricing: Custom quote, grouped by company size (under 200, 200 to 999, 1,000+), per Culture Amp's pricing page.

Best for: Organizations of 200+ employees with HR capacity to use benchmarks.

My take: Strong at scale. For a 150-person company, you'd likely pay for depth you won't use yet.

5. Lattice

Lattice people management platform showing the Ask Lattice AI assistant, a people analytics summary with headcount and team sentiment, and a manager 1:1 agenda
Lattice people management platform with AI assistant and people analytics

People management platform · G2 rating: 4.7/5

Lattice is a US-based people management platform that started in performance management and later added engagement. It combines reviews, goals and OKRs, engagement surveys and growth plans in one system. It works best if you already run performance cycles in Lattice. See our Lattice review.

Key features:

  • Pulse, engagement, eNPS, onboarding and exit surveys
  • Heatmaps linking engagement to performance data
  • Company, team and individual OKRs
  • 1:1s with shared agendas and action items
  • Structured review cycles with reminders
  • Slack and Microsoft Teams integrations

Pros:

  • Goals link clearly from company level to individuals.
  • 1:1 agendas keep manager conversations in one place.
  • Review cycles run on schedule with automated reminders.
  • Customer support is consistently rated highly.

Cons:

  • The interface can overwhelm new users.
  • Survey question formats are hard to customize.
  • Growth plans feel disconnected from goals and reviews.
  • A $4,000 minimum annual agreement, billed in US dollars only, rules out small teams, per Lattice's pricing page.

Check in your demo: Arabic support and access for staff without a work email.

Pricing: Engagement is a module, listed by third-party trackers at about $4 (about AED 15) per seat per month.

Best for: Tech and professional services firms wanting engagement and performance in one tool.

My take: Choose it when performance management is the main project and engagement is a bonus.

6. Leapsome

Leapsome HR platform showing a personal dashboard with review and 1:1 tasks, the Leapy AI assistant summarizing an employee survey, and a team engagement score chart
Leapsome AI-powered HR platform with engagement survey insights

Engagement, performance and learning platform · G2 rating: 4.8/5

Leapsome is a Berlin-based people platform that brings engagement, performance and learning together. It links surveys to reviews, goals and learning, so a low score can lead straight to a development plan. See our Leapsome review.

Key features:

  • Engagement and pulse surveys with analytics and action plans
  • Performance reviews, 360-degree feedback and goals
  • Learning paths linked to review and survey results
  • 38 supported languages
  • Single sign-on (SSO) and encryption

Pros:

  • Reviews, OKRs and feedback connect smoothly.
  • Reporting and support are both highly rated.
  • Language coverage is broad, which helps multilingual teams.
  • Survey results feed development plans.

Cons:

  • Setup and goal-setting have a steep learning curve.
  • Navigation feels unclear at first.
  • Integrations are limited, and notifications are rigid.
  • Dedicated Customer Success needs a contract of $6,000+ (about AED 22,035) a year, per Leapsome's company information page.

Check in your demo: Whether Arabic is among the 38 languages, and how right-to-left displays.

Pricing: Custom quote, 1-year minimum.

Best for: Scaling companies managing engagement, performance and learning together.

My take: It rewards teams with time to set it up. For a small, stretched HR team, the learning curve is a real cost.

7. 15Five

15Five performance management platform showing turnover, engagement and manager effectiveness dashboards, with a chart of top and bottom performers
15Five performance management and engagement analytics dashboards

Manager-effectiveness platform · G2 rating: 4.6/5

15Five is a US-based performance management platform built around manager effectiveness. It centers on managers: weekly check-ins, 1:1s and feedback, with surveys to measure results. That matters, because Gallup's 2026 State of the Global Workplace report shows only 22% of managers worldwide were engaged in 2025.

Key features:

  • Weekly check-ins, 1:1 agendas and goal tracking
  • Engagement surveys, action planning, heatmaps and benchmarks
  • High Fives peer recognition
  • Kona Coach, an AI manager coaching add-on

Pros:

  • Employees find the day-to-day app easy to use, with highly rated support.
  • Weekly check-ins keep managers and employees connected.
  • Pulse surveys are customizable and actionable.
  • High Fives makes giving praise easy.

Cons:

  • Admin setup has a steep learning curve, and onboarding support is weak.
  • Customization is limited, and reporting can be complex.
  • Pricing feels high, and some customers report steep increases.
  • It sends too many email notifications.

Check in your demo: Arabic support and total cost with Kona Coach, listed by third-party trackers at $19 (about AED 70) per manager per month.

Pricing: Engage from $4 (about AED 15), Total Platform $16 (about AED 59) per user per month, per 15Five's Capterra pricing listing.

Best for: Companies whose surveys keep pointing to manager capability.

My take: It tackles manager problems head-on. Price the add-ons early, since that's where costs climb.

What Is Employee Engagement Software?

Employee engagement software measures how committed employees feel and helps managers act on the results. Most tools combine employee survey software (engagement, pulse and eNPS surveys) with recognition and action planning.

An employee engagement platform goes further, adding reviews, goals or HR data. When choosing an employee engagement platform in the UAE, the bigger choice is standalone tool versus HR platform, covered below.

For a global view, see our guide to the best employee engagement software.

Why UAE Companies Need Different Employee Engagement Software

Tools built for desk-based, English-speaking teams miss much of a UAE workforce. Five local factors change what a good tool must do.

1. Frontline employees need easy survey access

Frontline employees are the least engaged group by work location and the hardest to survey. Gallup's 2026 State of the Global Workplace report shows on-site staff whose jobs can't be done remotely are 17% engaged, versus 30% for fully remote staff.

In UAE hospitality, retail, construction, logistics and healthcare, many have no company email or laptop, so an email-only survey measures your head office, not your company. Track response rates by site and language, because a healthy total can hide a weak night shift. Our guide to frontline employee engagement goes deeper.

2. Multilingual surveys matter for diverse UAE workforces

English-only surveys exclude employees who read Arabic, Hindi, Urdu, Malayalam, Tagalog or Bengali more comfortably. They skip it or misread questions, and both distort results.

Translation isn't enough. Have a native speaker review each version, because terms like "recognition" or "growth" don't always translate cleanly.

3. Employee data protection needs careful review

Survey responses are personal data. Mainland companies fall under the UAE Personal Data Protection Law (Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021), known as the PDPL, in force since 2 January 2022. Companies in the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) and Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM) follow their own laws. That puts vendor hosting and data transfer policies on your shortlist, not just your contract.

4. Emiratisation adds another workforce consideration

Private companies with 50+ employees must grow UAE nationals in skilled roles by 2% a year, 1% each half-year, and the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) now charges for every unfilled position.

When an Emirati hire leaves in year one, the role must be refilled to stay on target. Tracking early-tenure engagement flags that risk before it becomes a vacancy.

5. A competitive job market makes retention important

Only 27% of UAE employees are engaged, according to Gallup's 2026 UAE data. Combine that with the 76% who think now is a good time to find a new job, well above the 36% average across the Middle East and North Africa, and many disengaged employees are confident they can leave. That combination is where resignation risk sits.

What to Look for in Employee Engagement Software in the UAE

Once you know the type you need, these six checks separate strong options from weak ones, and cover gaps demos rarely show. Cost has its own section.

1. Frontline access without company email

Ask for QR codes, SMS links or a mobile app that doesn't need a work email.

Quick test: Ask the vendor to send a live survey to your phone during the demo using only a QR code or SMS. If they can't, frontline access isn't ready.

2. Arabic and multilingual survey support

Ask to see an Arabic survey and results report, including right-to-left layout. Confirm translated responses combine into one report.

3. Anonymous feedback and minimum group sizes

Ask for the minimum group size before results show. A five-person outlet filtered by nationality and tenure can expose individuals, and once staff suspect that, honesty drops. Set the minimum at five or more, and check that stacked filters can't break it.

4. UAE data protection and hosting

Ask where data is hosted, how transfers work and which certifications apply, such as ISO 27001 or SOC 2. If you're in DIFC or ADGM, confirm those regimes are supported. This is general guidance, not legal advice.

5. HRIS, payroll and workplace integrations

Engagement data is most useful next to tenure, department, absence and exits. Check for automatic HR platform sync and Slack, Microsoft Teams or Google Workspace support.

6. AI-powered engagement insights

Most tools use AI to summarize comments. The real value is AI that suggests next steps, such as ThriveSparrow's AI action plans and AI Coach, Culture Amp's AI Coach and 15Five's Kona. Run the AI on a sample survey and check whether its advice is specific or generic. Our guide to AI in employee engagement explains what good looks like.

5 Questions to Ask Before Buying Employee Engagement Software

The checklist above tells you which capabilities to test. These five questions test the commercial and operational terms behind them, which is where most buying regret comes from. Ask them in writing, so the answers become part of the vendor's proposal.

1. What will managers see and do after a survey closes?

Engagement improves only when team managers act on results, and many platforms stop at an HR dashboard. Ask the vendor to log in as a line manager during the demo and walk you through the first 48 hours after a survey closes.

  • Strong answer: Managers see their own team's results within anonymity thresholds, the two or three drivers that matter most, and a suggested action plan they own, with progress visible to HR.
  • Red flag: Results reach managers only as an HR export or slide deck, so action depends on HR chasing every team.

2. Which features in this demo carry an additional cost?

Demos usually show the full platform, while quotes often cover a base tier. AI features, recognition rewards, advanced analytics and extra integrations are the most common add-ons.

  • Strong answer: A line-item quote that maps every feature shown in the demo to a plan, with add-on prices stated.
  • Red flag: Features you saw in the demo that are missing from the quote, or described only as "available on request."

3. What are the minimum contract value, seat count and term?

For teams under 100 employees, minimums often matter more than the per-user price. A $4,000 annual minimum on a 40-person team works out to about $8.33 (about AED 31) per employee per month, well above most list prices. Also ask how pricing changes at renewal and how seat changes are billed mid-contract.

  • Strong answer: Minimums, renewal terms and seat-adjustment rules stated in writing, with no penalty for reducing seats at renewal.
  • Red flag: A minimum that multiplies your real cost per employee, or renewal pricing with no cap.

4. Can we export our full engagement history, and in what format?

Trend data is the most valuable output of an engagement program. Switch vendors without it, and you lose your baseline and restart year-on-year comparisons from zero. Check what happens to your data at contract end, too.

  • Strong answer: Self-service export of scores, demographics and open-text comments in a standard format such as CSV or Excel, available at any time, plus a clear deletion policy after termination.
  • Red flag: Export available only on request, for a fee, or without open-text comments.

5. Can you connect us with a UAE or GCC customer with a similar workforce?

A regional reference tests every claim above under real conditions: multilingual surveys, frontline access and local data requirements.

  • Strong answer: A reference in your industry and region, such as a hotel group or retailer surveying multilingual frontline staff, whom you can speak with directly.
  • Red flag: Only global logos and case studies, with no regional customer willing to talk.

How Often Should UAE Companies Run Employee Engagement Surveys?

Choosing the software is only half the decision. How often you survey determines which features you'll actually use, from automated pulse scheduling to event-triggered lifecycle surveys, and whether a tool's pricing fits your plan. So settle your survey rhythm before you sign.

Most UAE companies get the best results from a three-layer rhythm: one full engagement survey a year, short pulse surveys in between, and lifecycle surveys triggered by key employee moments. Each layer answers a different question, so running all three avoids both survey fatigue and blind spots.

Survey type Frequency Length What it tells you
Full engagement survey Once or twice a year 15 to 25 questions Your baseline across every engagement driver
Pulse survey Monthly or quarterly 3 to 10 questions Whether action on your weakest drivers is working
Lifecycle survey Triggered by events 5 to 15 questions How employees experience onboarding, promotion and exit

Annual or biannual engagement surveys

The full survey sets your baseline and shows which drivers, such as manager support, growth or recognition, are pulling engagement down. Run it once a year if you're building a new program, or twice a year if managers already act on results quickly. Survey more often than that, and teams won't have time to act before they're measured again.

Monthly or quarterly pulse surveys

Employee pulse surveys track the two or three lowest-scoring drivers from your full survey, so you can see whether manager actions are working. Keep each pulse under five minutes and repeat the same core questions so trends stay comparable. Match the cadence to your capacity to respond: if nothing visible changes between pulses, participation drops.

Employee lifecycle surveys

Lifecycle surveys capture feedback at moments that shape retention, such as onboarding, promotion and exit. Onboarding surveys at 30 and 90 days are especially useful for UAE companies with Emiratisation targets, because they flag early risks among new UAE national hires before a vacancy affects compliance. Exit surveys, compared with your engagement results, show whether the drivers you track are the ones pushing people out.

Timing surveys around the UAE calendar

Schedule your full survey around the UAE working calendar. Ramadan brings shorter working hours, Eid holidays follow, and many expatriate employees travel in July and August. Launching in these periods can lower response rates and skew results, so run the full survey outside them and keep pulses light. Ramadan follows the lunar calendar and moves about 11 days earlier each year, so confirm the dates when you plan the annual cycle.

What this means for your software choice: Check that the tool can run all three layers automatically, with scheduled pulses, lifecycle surveys triggered by HR events such as a join date, and automated reminders. If any of these needs manual work, your survey rhythm will depend on HR remembering, and it will slip.

Is Employee Engagement Software Worth It for Small Businesses in UAE?

Yes, when pricing fits your size and setup takes days, not months. For 20 to 100 employees, a per-user tool with no big minimum can pay for itself by preventing one avoidable resignation.

What small businesses should check

  • Per-user pricing, no large minimum
  • A free trial with surveys and reports
  • Setup HR can do alone
  • Recognition in the same tool
  • Mobile or QR access for deskless staff
  • A short pilot before you sign

Final Thoughts

It comes down to one question: will the tool reach every employee, and will managers act on what it shows? Need an HR platform first? Start with Bayzat or Zimyo. Need enterprise benchmarks? Look at Culture Amp.

And if you want surveys, recognition and performance working together for office and frontline teams, explore ThriveSparrow's employee engagement software.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is the best employee engagement software in the UAE?

It depends on your setup. ThriveSparrow suits teams wanting multilingual, frontline-ready surveys with recognition and performance in one tool. Bayzat and Zimyo suit companies wanting engagement inside HR and payroll. Culture Amp suits large organizations that want benchmarks.

2. What should Dubai companies look for in employee engagement software?

Four things: survey access without company email, Arabic and other language support, strong anonymity for small teams, and clear data hosting answers under the UAE PDPL or DIFC rules. Then compare analytics, integrations and AED cost.

3. How can companies collect feedback from frontline employees?

Meet them where they are. Post QR codes in staff areas, send SMS links or use a shared tablet at shift handover. Keep surveys under five minutes, offer them in employees' languages, and share results so staff see feedback lead to action.

4. Should employee engagement software integrate with an HRIS?

Yes, if you want to analyze engagement by department, tenure or location without manual uploads. An HRIS sync keeps employee lists current automatically. Ask which HR platforms the vendor supports.
